History About the Trains

Indian Railways was searching to increase the speed of the trains which enables the safety & security features as well. In 2018 Indian Railways started running the Shatabdi services. Shatabdi trains were high-speed trains with modern amenities.

The speed of the trains is 160km/h. In the initial run Train 18 became the fastest train to reach the speed of 184mg/h. Later on, the name was replaced by Vande Bharat.

Inauguration of Vande Bharat Train

The train was first inaugurated on 15th February 2019 from New Delhi Railways Stations. The Prime Minister Mr. Nadendra Modi flagged off the train from New Delhi to Varanasi on the first run in India.

While the speed can reach 183 km/h, as it’s reached during the trial run. But the Railway’s permissible limit is 160 km/h. So the speed of the trains is less than 160 Km/h in India.

The speed may gradually be increased once the infrastructures are upgraded in all the routes.
